World Rhino Day - 22 September
World Rhino Day is annually celebrated on 22 September and people around the globe find ways to contribute to the conservation of the dwindling rhino population. A few weeks ago, the Hunters United Against Poaching Trust made a similar effort with their International Anti-Poaching Auction and Gala Evening, where a life-sized marble rhino sculpture, created by French Artist Gé Pellini, was put up for auction.  Although the rhino sculpture was not sold on that evening, it remains available on the auction website ( and can be viewed at the First National Bank, Parkside Branch in Independence Avenue, Windhoek. It will be available for auction until 28 November 2017.
