Procedures for Permit Applications via NAPHA Office

The NAPHA Staff attends the MET Permit Office every Monday and Thursday at 09:00. Any permit application received on a Monday after 08:00 will be handed in on the following Thursday. Similarly, any application received on a Thursday after 08:00 will be handed in on the following Monday at 09:00. No exceptions to the above will be applicable! The Permit Office will likewise not entertain any exceptions any longer for late comers. Permit applications can be sent to the NAPHA office by email: napha@napha.com.na or info@napha.com.na. (Please confirm with the NAPHA office (061 234 455) a day or two after having sent your permit application to ascertain whether it was received.)

Processing times for various permits by MET Permit Office:

Predator Trophy Hunting Permit Application:
Predator (Leopard, Cheetah, and Lion) permit applications have to be handed in at least 14 days BEFORE commencement of a hunt.
The following is required to apply for a Predator Trophy Hunting Permit:
  1. A fully completed Predator Trophy Hunting Permit Application
  2. A valid copy of your client’s passport including his/her full physical address indicated on the application.
  3. A letter from your operation inviting a certain PH to conduct the hunt on your behalf (if you do not guide yourself). Furthermore, the PH will have to write a letter stating, that he/she will be guiding the Predator hunt on your farm and district at the given date.
Plains Game Trophy Hunting Application:
Plains game permit applications must be handed in at least 10 days BEFORE commencement of a hunt. The following is required to apply for a Predator Trophy Hunting Permit:
  1. A fully completed Trophy Hunting Permit Application.
  2. A valid copy of your client’s passport including his/her full physical address indicated on the application.
  3. Permit applications for Brown Hyena, Spotted Hyena and Porcupine must always be accompanied by an explanatory letter from both the trophy hunter (client) and trophy hunting operator (host), providing reasons why the trophy hunter plans to hunt this specific species.
Please ensure:
  1. that the dates of the relevant hunt are correctly indicated and signed.
  2. that all your guides are registered with the conservancy you will be hunting in or the farm you will be hunting on.
  3. that one Hunting Guide or PH can only guide 2 clients at any time. Therefore, if you have 4 clients visiting at the same time, you will require a minimum of 2 Hunting Guides and/or PH’s.
  4. that the required number of Hunting Guide(s) and/or Professional Hunter(s), per group of trophy hunting clients, is indicated on the permit.
  5. that the correct number of huntable game is indicated AND that the correct species is indicated/specified on the permit (if a trophy animal, which is NOT specified on the permit is hunted, it would cause immense problems with MET and could, in a worst case scenario, cost a Hunting Guide and/or PH his/her hunting license).
  6. that you do not indicate a Hunting Guide and/or PH for two separate hunts during the same time period (this has happened before and caused confusion and refusal by MET).
Should you require short notice/emergency changes to a permit application, but are unable to attend to this yourself, the NAPHA office can be contacted for assistance. HOWEVER, we then require an authorization letter from you that clearly indicates the name of the trophy hunting operation, the name of the permit applicant, etc.

[read more]
